This picture was taken on Saturday morning from the top of the Castle Keep (12th C) ; in the distance can be seen the Black Gate (13th C) and St Nicholas Cathedral (14th C). In the foreground are students from St Chad's College ( founded 1904) Durham University.
There is something about this photo that attracts and keeps attention! Great view for sure. Perhaps it's the people looking out over the keep.
ReplyDeleteNot too many of us Yankees have ever seen a keep much less looked over one!
Delightful!
The age of European buildings never ceases to leave me in awe. Beautiful old stone and wonderful view!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jacob and Hilda; sadly Newcastle also has more than its fair share of monstrous architecture from the 60's, 70's. 80's and 90's, but at least some of our architectural heritage from olden days has survived
