Grey Street


These cars were parked on Grey Street, In Newcastle upon Tyne.
Grey Street  was voted as England's finest street in 2005 in a survey of BBC 4 radio listeners and was also considered to be one of the finest Georgian streets in England by renowned architectural expert and writer  Sir Nikolaus Pevsner, known in the business simply as Pevsner.

Grey Street


A few pedestrians braved the early winter snows on  Grey Street in Newcastle upon Tyne yesterday. Grey Street was described by architectural writer Sir Nikolaus Pevsner   as one of the finest streets in England.

It is appropriate that Grey's Monument is a regular location for the voice of religious and political activists, as Charles, Earl Grey ( yes he of the tea fame), was a champion of religious and political freedom in the 19th Century.

The Alternative Option

Every December a Christmas market is held around Grey's Monument on Grey Streeet and Grainger Street ; some stall holders are from other European countries. This stall's name and the rare hairstyle was just too good to miss.
