Andy Capp
Andy Capp is the working class charachter depcicted in a newspaper cartoon of the same name . He was created by cartoonist Reg Smythe (1917–1998) a native of Hartlepool which is where this bronze of the charachter can be seen.
Very cool. I used to read a comic book with Any Capp when I was a kid. His Swedish name is Tuffa Viktor. Translated back to English that would be something like Victor the hooligan.
My first school was round the corner from Reg Smythe's house. He was very much a local hero. Many years ago I was looking at a Turkish newspaper, when I cam across good old Andy and Flo in Turkish of course. Still funny even tho' I couldn't understand a word.
