This gateway to Newcastle's Chinatown was originally built by engineers from the PRC for about £160,000. behind the gate can be seen St James Park, home to Newcastle United FC. To the extreme right of the picture is a section of the mediaeval city walls and next to that is the Irish Centre.
It is interesting to see this exotic and lovely structure in front of a western sports facility.
