All Saints

All Saints Church was built between 1786-96 to replace a medieval church on the site; the foundation-stone of the church was laid by the Reverend James Stephen Lushington on Monday the 14th of August, 1786. The church was was deconsecrated in 1961. This picture was taken recently before the snow melted.

The spire of All Saints Church dominates the skyline as viewed from the Gateshead side of the river Tyne ; the foundation-stone of the church was laid by the Reverend James Stephen Lushington on Monday the 14th of August, 1786.

Red Arrows above Newcastle

The Red Arrows of the RAF grace Newcastle with their presence every year for The Great North Run which took place on Sunday. This shot was taken into the sun causing silhouettes. Old Saints Church can be seen to the left and the top of the Tyne Bridge can just be seen above the skyline in the middle of the picture.

All Saints and the Guildhall

The spire of All saints Church, which was built 1786-96 can be seen to the right. The clocktower in the foreground belongs to the Guildhall which was old centre of government of the town. The old Guildhall was rebuilt and enlarged in the middle of the 17th century.
